From Halfway Around the World
Bateau Bay Public School wrapped up Book Week with a fun performance by Stephen the Storyteller presenting stories From Halfway Around the World.
We heard a tall story about a helicopter landing on the school roof and SAS soldiers descending on ropes into our midst!
We learnt a chant from America and cheered like a cheer squad.
We appreciated the saying, slow and steady wins the race in the fable, The Hare and the Tortise.
There was even a funny gnome in a fairytale!
We performed the Haka!
How cool! Children from cold countries get to skate on frozen lakes in the
What a great end to Book Week! We loved Stephen and his stories From Halfway Around the World!
Book Week/Education Week Parade – One World Many Stories

Author Visit
Recently local author, Lisa Sheehy, spent some time with us in the library. Lisa shared her new book, Angel Archie to the Rescue, with students from Kindergarten to Year 3. What a treat! Lisa was an entertaining and inspirational guest. The children loved her! They thought she looked more like a princess than an author! After Lisa and Archie’s visit we were all closing the doors and curtains to keep warm rather than turning on heaters! They certainly made us want to help look after our environment. Thanks Lisa and Archie, we hope you visit us again soon.
A Shiver of Sharks in the Library!
We are all shivering as we are surrounded by sharks in the library. Sharks are visiting us this term from the Australian Museum. Did you know that there are over 450 different species of Shark in the world?
Blast Off!
Visit the library and see 3/4/5 A’ s terrific projects on Our Solar System, created during their study of Space. Well done 3/4/5 A
Exciting New Addition!
We have a new Interactive Whiteboard! The Library staff are quickly mastering its use and feeling very excited about the teaching and learning opportunities offered by this technology.

Author Talk
Yesterday five of our Year Five students attended an author talk at the Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College – Berkeley Vale Campus. Gabrielle Lord talked about her new, explosive 12 book series called, Conspiracy 365.
Conspiracy 365 is a new series for 11 to 14 year old readers, including both boys and girls. The main character, Callum Ormond has been warned that people are out to kill him. He has 365 days to figure out the mystery surrounding his father’s death and save his own life. For more information go to http//www.conspiracy365.com/
Several students bought a copy of January, the first book in the series, and Gabrielle Lord signed it for them. The students have become so captivated by the storyline that they haven’t been able to put the book down since yesterday! We will have the series available in our school library for borrowing in 2011.
Many thanks to The Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College – Berkeley Vale Campus for inviting us to such a great treat!
